Last week The Spindle organised their first ever co-creation session. In the office space of the 1% Club in Amsterdam, 25 professionals with different skills and expertise joined forces to work on various topics such as tax justice and civic power. Through a pressure cook method these professionals worked together and came up with next steps for initiatives.
The Spindle – initiated by Partos – is an innovation platform connecting Dutch and global actors into an on- and offline movement for inclusive and sustainable development. By creating Innovation Labs on this platform, people can work together on an innovation or idea, share knowledge and crowdsource with help of the community. Focal themes are: civic power, inclusion, new forms of cooperation and the use of data.
At the co-creation session, participants were divided over 5 innovation labs in which initiators of the Labs could present participants with their quests in improving their project. Facilitators of Perspectivity, an organisation experienced with complex problem solving, ensured that the thought processes took place in a structured way that fostered creativity. An example of one of the Innovation Labs is From Civic Space to Civic Power, an initiative aiming at fostering collaboration and understanding between the private sector and civil society in order to contribute to sustainability at large.
After brainstorming and decision making, valuable input was created for the initiators of the Innovation Labs. New partners were identified and the lessons learned and next steps were presented to the group.
On the 26th of January The Spindle Lab ‘From Civic Space to Civic Power’ will organize a follow-up session on interaction between civil society organisations and the private sector.
